The Open Geospatial Consortium are currently looking at creating a specification for the encoding and publishing of vector tiles. As things stand, this specification will be based upon the Mapbox Vector Tiles specification. It’s as yet unclear what impact this will have on the development of Version 3 of the MVT spec.
